Cheating in Schools

Cheating in schoolLately there are many reports on cheating in exams, especially the NEET exams in India which created an uproar in the news. Also there are many reports that cheating happens in every other country and it’s the common feeling that it’s inevitable.

It’s the common opinion that the invigilators and the students themselves should take responsibility and ensure the fairness is maintained. In absence of the above, what we can do to prevent and ensure such malpractice doesn’t happen?

These are some suggestions I have come up with:

The questions should be asked in such a way that the students should write the answers

Whenever there’s a system that’s not working in public sector and workers better in private sector, we should always compare what the the sector that’s doing better is doing and not followed by the other sectors.

The question papers should be prepared online in secured physical locations by multiple sources. The authors should sign a declaration that there are no paper trails left in their possession.

All the students should write the examinations online (may be possible only for high schools. Definitely for exams like NEET ). When a state government can provide laptops and tablets to all the students in a state in India, they should be able to have computers
